Innovate for the future of mobility while giving students the skills, experience and connections to launch themselves into successful careers
With a proud legacy in Advanced Vehicle Technology Competitions (AVTCs) dating back to the Propane Vehicle Challenge in 1995, UWAFT is currently competing in the prestigious EcoCAR Mobility Challenge. This four-year competition, involving 12 top North American universities, tasks us with transforming a 2023 Cadillac LYRIQ. Our work focuses on enhancing its electric powertrain and integrating a sophisticated sensor and processing suite to achieve SAE Level 2 autonomy. This includes advanced safety features and Vehicle-to-Everything (V2X) communication capabilities.
Our engineering efforts span a wide range of cutting-edge projects, including battery optimization, autonomous driving controls, and V2X implementation, among many others. As the automotive industry continues its shift toward electrification, UWAFT remains at the forefront of innovation through our participation in the EcoCAR Challenge.
Operating from North America's largest student team facility, UWAFT is made up of over 35 dedicated members, all united by a common goal: to drive the future of sustainable vehicle development.
